Gender dimorphism refers to the idea that men can only be masculine and women can only be feminine. Thus, the natural sexual desire is for opposites to desire each other and that form of seuxal expression becomes the norm (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy). This idea is closely related to Gender Essentialism, the idea that there are essential qualities existing across time and space that each gender has that define it as such.
